How GearBook Works
From signing up to your first payout, with no technical work on your end.
Sign Up
Tell us who you are: your name, bio, what you do, any certifications, where people can find you, and how you would like to be paid. If you already know what you would recommend, you can pick gear from our retail partners there and then, or start from a gear template built for your specialty.
It takes about 10 minutes, and none of it is permanent. Everything you enter can be changed later from your dashboard.
We Review Your Application
We read every application ourselves rather than approving them automatically, and we are usually back to you within a few days. Once you are approved your page exists immediately, at gearbook.shop/catalog/yourname, waiting to be filled.
Any gear you picked during signup is queued at this point. We build the tracking link behind each item so a sale finds its way back to you, and it appears on your page once that is done.
Stock Your Catalog
Sign in and add gear yourself. Search our partners’ catalogs from your dashboard, hundreds of thousands of real products, and pick the one you mean. If something is not in there, paste the link instead. Either way, you write the part nobody else can: why you recommend it.
Products you add from the dashboard build their own tracking link and appear on your page as you go. Up to 8 in a catalog, and you can run up to 5 catalogs if you do more than one thing.
Share Your Link
Send it out before or after a trip, put it in your Instagram bio, or drop it into your booking confirmations. It is one link, it never changes, and the more places it lives the more it earns.
Most members put the link in trip confirmation emails. Others mention it in person and let clients look it up on their own time.
Earn From Every Sale
When someone clicks your link and buys something, you earn a share of the commission on that sale. And it is not limited to the product you linked to: a click credits you for anything they buy from that retailer for the next 30 days.
Your dashboard tracks clicks, sales, and earnings as they come in, so you can see where you stand at any point. Payouts go out monthly by PayPal or Venmo.
How the money works
Rates vary by retailer
Every sale through your catalog pays a commission, and you keep the larger share of it. The exact rate is set by each retailer rather than by us, so it differs by brand: what you earn on a pack is not what you earn on a camera.
Your share is paid monthly by PayPal or Venmo. What GearBook keeps is what keeps the service running.
