Services Provided
GearBook gives outdoor professionals a platform for building an affiliate gear catalog. You choose the products and write the recommendations; we host the catalog page, handle the affiliate partnerships, and build the tracking behind each product link so a sale can be credited to you. Members share their catalog with their own audience and may earn affiliate commissions when someone buys through it.
Eligibility & Approval
By using GearBook, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old (or of legal age in your jurisdiction), have the authority to enter into these Terms, and that the information you give us is accurate and truthful. Membership is not automatic: we review every application, and we may decline or later revoke one at our discretion.
Fees
Membership is free. There is no signup fee, no subscription, and no charge for hosting your catalog. GearBook is paid by retaining a share of the commission earned on sales made through member links, so we earn only when you do.
User Responsibilities
You agree to use GearBook only for lawful purposes, and to keep your contact and payment information current. You agree to recommend only gear you genuinely stand behind, and not to misrepresent your experience with a product or your professional credentials. You agree to disclose to your audience that your links are affiliate links where the law requires it, which in the United States means the FTC endorsement guidelines. You agree not to generate clicks or purchases artificially, including buying through your own links to earn commission on your own purchases, and not to bid on partner brand terms in paid search or otherwise breach a retailer's own affiliate program rules.
Your Content
You keep ownership of what you submit: your photos, your written recommendations, your bio, and your brand names, logos, and likeness. By submitting them you grant GearBook a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of running and promoting the service, including on your catalog page, in the marketplace, in our newsletter, and in social previews of those pages. That licence ends when the content is removed, except where we have already used it somewhere that cannot be recalled, such as an email already sent.
Affiliate Links & Earnings
Product links in GearBook catalogs are affiliate links managed through third-party networks. Commission rates are set by each retailer, not by GearBook, and they differ by brand; the current rates and each member’s share are published at gearbook.shop/commission-rates and may change when a retailer changes them. Earnings are calculated from what the affiliate networks report to us. A commission is only earned on a completed, qualifying sale: returns, cancellations, and orders a network reverses or declines to pay are deducted accordingly. GearBook is not responsible for tracking errors, attribution failures, delays, or disputes arising within third-party affiliate programs.
Payments
Payouts are made monthly by PayPal or Venmo, whichever you selected, to the handle on your profile. Payment depends on the affiliate networks having reported and paid the underlying commissions, so timing can shift. If you are paid enough in a calendar year to trigger United States tax reporting requirements, we may need to collect tax information such as a W-9 before we can continue paying you, and we may report payments as the law requires. GearBook reserves the right to withhold or adjust payments where fraudulent activity, policy violations, or reporting discrepancies are detected.
Intellectual Property
The GearBook platform itself, including the site, its design, and its templates, remains the property of GearBook. Members may use their catalog for personal and professional promotion but may not copy, resell, or redistribute GearBook content outside that use. Your own content stays yours, as described above.
Limitation of Liability
GearBook is not liable for errors, delays, or losses related to third-party affiliate programs, any damages resulting from the use of catalogs or affiliate links, or business outcomes including sales performance or audience engagement. Your use of GearBook is at your own risk.
Termination
You may cancel at any time, with no fee or penalty: contact us and we will take your catalog page down and stop tracking. Any commission already earned and reported remains payable. GearBook may suspend or terminate an account at any time for a violation of these Terms, and may remove or modify a catalog where needed to comply with an affiliate program's requirements or a legal obligation.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date, and continuing to use GearBook after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America.
