Our goal
GearBook should work for everyone who uses it: the outdoor professionals who build catalogs and the people who shop their picks, whether they use a keyboard, a screen reader, screen magnification or high contrast settings.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the public site and the member dashboard.
Where we are
The public site and the member dashboard are built and checked against WCAG 2.1 AA. Automated tools cannot catch everything, so if something gets in your way, we want to hear about it and fix it.
What we do
Every change to the site runs automated accessibility checks on its pages and components, and we check pages in the browser before they ship.
Text colors are chosen for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1, and the edges of form fields for at least 3:1. Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard and shows where focus is. A skip link leads past the navigation. Form errors are announced together with the field they belong to. Animation is turned off for anyone whose device asks for reduced motion.
Tell us
If anything on GearBook is hard to use, email hello@gearbook.shop and tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within five business days, and we will help you get the information or finish the task another way in the meantime.
