Route Setter

Ivan Jesus Vargas

USAC Level 4 Routesetter

Routesetter. Climber. Budding trail runner. Cat lover.

I've been Routesetting and climbing since 2008. I've worked in climbing gyms all over Florida, where I'm from, and the tri-state area, where I now reside. About 2 years ago I moved to the Hudson Valley to open a bouldering gym with my friend and to be closer to rocks and the outdoors in general.

Kailas Climbing Route Setter Bag Adjustable Waist Belt with Pockets PVC - Black / L

I've been using the Kailas tool pouch for over 6 years. It is by far the most durable, comfortable and functional tool pouch/holster for routesetting that I have used yet. I tend to put my gear through the ringer, and this thing doesn't quit. It will continue to be my go-to for the foreseeable future.

Black Diamond Bosun's Chair One Color, One Size

Back when I used to set rope routes 3 days per week this was an absolutely essential piece of my kit. I can't tell you how much it saved my back when I started using it. It definitely takes a little trial and error to seamlessly incorporate it into your set up at first, but once you do, your body will thank you.
